Dance- Folk
Grade level:
VI to VIII

Rules:

  1. Each School may send ONE team.
  2. Each team will be represented by at least TWO and no more than SIX Participants.
  3. Students may perform dance pieces from any of the ten folk dance forms given below:
  4. Bhangra
  5. Dandiya
  6. Do Chapi/Chap
  7. Garba
  8. Jhumar/Ghumar
  9. Khattak
  10. Kikli
  11. Leva
  12. Sammi
  13. Other national folk styles (for foreign participants only)
    1. There will only be ONE round of performances.
    2. The performance order will be determined by a random draw.
    3. The performance time MUST not exceed 5 minutes inclusive of introductory announcements.
    4. When the buzzer is sounded the participants will be required to immediately stop.
    5. Participants will be required to make an introductory announcement before their performance mentioning their team code; school; participants’ name(s) and chosen folk style.
    6. Traditional folk music appropriate to the style and region should be used. Popular and film music will not be permitted.
    7. CD playing facilities will be available. Provision for live musicians will not be possible.
    8. Audio/Video recording at the ISEO venues is not allowed unless special permission has been requested for and given in writing in advance from the ISEO Committee.
    9. Participants must wear the traditional folk costume(s). Shoes/Footwear must not be worn on stage.
    10. Open or closed flames and pyrotechnics of any sort are not permitted.
    11. The ISEO committee reserves the right to withdraw any entry it deems inappropriate or unsuitable.
    12. Audio/Video recording at the ISEO venues is not allowed unless special permission has been requested for and given in writing in advance from the ISEO Committee.
    13. Attendance will be restricted to faculty members and enrolled students of participating schools.
