Dance- Folk
Grade level: VI to VIII
Rules:
- Each School may send ONE team.
- Each team will be represented by at least TWO and no more than SIX Participants.
- Students may perform dance pieces from any of the ten folk dance forms given below:
- Bhangra
- Dandiya
- Do Chapi/Chap
- Garba
- Jhumar/Ghumar
- Khattak
- Kikli
- Leva
- Sammi
- Other national folk styles (for foreign participants only)
- There will only be ONE round of performances.
- The performance order will be determined by a random draw.
- The performance time MUST not exceed 5 minutes inclusive of introductory announcements.
- When the buzzer is sounded the participants will be required to immediately stop.
- Participants will be required to make an introductory announcement before their performance mentioning their team code; school; participants’ name(s) and chosen folk style.
- Traditional folk music appropriate to the style and region should be used. Popular and film music will not be permitted.
- CD playing facilities will be available. Provision for live musicians will not be possible.
- Audio/Video recording at the ISEO venues is not allowed unless special permission has been requested for and given in writing in advance from the ISEO Committee.
- Participants must wear the traditional folk costume(s). Shoes/Footwear must not be worn on stage.
- Open or closed flames and pyrotechnics of any sort are not permitted.
- The ISEO committee reserves the right to withdraw any entry it deems inappropriate or unsuitable.
- Audio/Video recording at the ISEO venues is not allowed unless special permission has been requested for and given in writing in advance from the ISEO Committee.
- Attendance will be restricted to faculty members and enrolled students of participating schools.
Note: Entries will be limited to the first FIFTEEN schools that register for the event
